Building a More Inclusive Community
Our founders, born and raised in Haiti, faced challenges in finding a sense of belonging in Junction City, Kansas. As they sought culturally relevant recreation and connections with fellow Haitians, they realized that their personal struggles reflected a broader community need for a more welcoming environment. They envisioned a place where diversity would not only be embraced but celebrated, and where the quality of life for all residents would be prioritized.
Their breakthrough came when they won a local pitch competition, leading to the acquisition of a vacant downtown lot. This pivotal moment inspired the creation of a multicultural center—a platform for visionaries seeking to foster community growth, unity, and global connections. Our mission is to build a more inclusive community by promoting cultural diversity, providing foreign language education, and offering support services to immigrants and youth. At First Thousand Member Club, we believe in celebrating diversity and cultivating cultural understanding among diverse groups, creating a future where everyone can thrive.
